A Center for Singing

Jurgen Schriefer was a concert pianist, Waldorf educator, musicologist, and singing specialist who visited Sacramento over a period of 10 years where he brought a wholly different appreciation of the art and activity of singing to the West Coast of the United States. I was one of the many soloists who were privileged to work with him in the "School for Uncovering the Voice". This concert project is my memorial to him and his tireless efforts to encourage everyone to take up this most basic human means of soul expression; to help us to find our way back to singing.

Jurgen Schriefer's contribution to a new understanding of the development of Western music

This concert will feature instrumental and vocal music, and eurythmy (a form of "singing" movement) to works by Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven. The concert will also feature music by William J. Sydeman; an accomplished contemporary composer and personal friend to Jurgen Schriefer.
